Ellen Miller Kwon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Taylor University, in Upland, Indiana. She also earned an additional Masters degree and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Rosemead School of Psychology, Biola University in La Mirada, California. Rosemead School of Psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association and foundationally trains upon psychodynamic and insight-oriented principles. At both Universities her training focused in integrating psychology and the Christian faith, in addition to generalist Psychologist training. Dr. Miller Kwon has a special interest in helping people who either are currently Christian or historically were Christian integrate their sexual experiences into their identity. This interest developed out of seeing how common it is within a Christian culture to be privately pained about sexuality. Dr. Miller Kwon welcomes people from a diverse background of faith, sexual orientation, and culture into her practice. Dr. Miller Kwon also worked as a supervisory psychologist at Fuller Psychological & Family Services at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, California providing training and supervision to graduate students learning psychotherapy. Prior to working at Fuller Seminary, she completed an internship focusing on trauma, dual diagnosis (addictions and severe mental illness), and general outpatient care, at Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veteran's Medical Center which is also accredited by the American Psychological Association. Other training experiences she has had are a dual diagnosis track at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California extensive outpatient psychotherapy at the Biola Counseling Center in La Mirada, California and child assessment at the Intercommunity Child Guidance Clinic in Whittier, California. Dr. Miller Kwon has also worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders in Garden Grove, California in her early years of graduate work. She established her own private practice named Ellen Marie Kwon, PsyD Inc in 2016, in which she is licensed as Ellen Marie Miller as an individual practitioner.
She is a member of the California Psychological Association as well as the San Gabriel Valley Psychological Association. She has served on the board of directors, most notably as: President but also as Diversity Chair, CARE Chair, Government Affairs Chair, and Secretary. She currently moderates the list-serv.
